The Ugly Christmas sweaters - Holiday Craze

The ugly Christmas sweater is a known conversation starter and has become quite the popular holiday item.

They were once considered quite handsome -- adorned with reindeer, shiny snowflakes and even lights. The parents of an 80's baby probably has at least one picture of them and/or their siblings all decked out in an ugly Christmas sweater.
The sweaters disappeared for a while, but they've made a comeback. Now-a-days, their designs range from the subtle to the outrageous — On Nordstrom.com, one sweater is currently priced at $600.

Singer Justin Bieber, Cee-lo Green, and Usher Ramond have been spoted rocking an ugly christmas sweater, as well as, the cast members of the hit TV show Glee.
The ugly Christmas sweater craze can be attributed to a plethora of sources; however, the men behind UglyChristmasSweaterParty.com — Adam Paulson, Brian Miller and Kevin Wool, 2004 and 2005 graduates of Indiana State University — started noticing an increase in ugly Christmas sweater parties in mid-2000 and have helped to propel the craze to new heights.
The consensus is that the majority of people spend 364 days out of the year worrying about what they look like and the sweater party gives them a moment to leave all inhibitions behind.

So, here’s an idea for the holidays:

Round up you friends and family for a good old fashioned ugly christmas sweater party. It’s a very easy, fun way to have a theme party. Everyone will look silly so you couldn’t help but to smile. Don’t worry about getting dressed up or getting ready. The worse you look, the better. It will put a whimsical atmosphere in place.
Reminder: cheap holiday sweaters are increasingly hard to find. Check your local Goodwill or Salvation Army headquarters for a rack with slim pickings. Some ugly Christmas sweaters are going for as much as $75 on ebay.

Happy Hunting!

Last year I made my own ugly sweater by buying a green sweatshirt from Walmart and then decorating it with some cheap decorations from the dollar general and dollar tree. It came out hideous which was perfect! :)All you need is a sweatshirt, decorations, some baby pins, a hot glue gun, and some imagination!
