Chocolate Pearls Spotlight: Rag Authority

RAG AUTHORITY
Rag Authority

Love finding different boutiques that has the latest trends, affordable pricing, and great customer service. Rag Authority has all these elements which took my breath away. The owner Christine
Codrington, was so nice and talking fashion with her was so much fun. She is an everyday woman and knows how to mix style and comfort. Literally on at one of my favorite street fairs (thanks to my aunt) I seen all these cute sweaters, skirts, and dresses. As soon as I walked over Christine made me feel welcomed. I bought the cutest skirt which is now my "go-to skirt." The moment I meet her I knew I had to a blog and interview her. Young woman on the rise! Owning your own business is not easy especially in fashion but Christine is on the right track and has brought more reinforcement that we all can do great things!
Rag Authority has so much to offer for all women and I love it! Check out Rag Authority Online!!!!

1.          What made you start your own business? How long have you been in business?
The reason I started was because my hsuband got laid off and we had an opportunity to start something that we can call our own. Even though it was a scary time because of the financial state of the world we still felt that people would still love to shop but would be looking for quality and unique clothing that they can wear multi seasonal.
As of Sept/11 we have been in the business for 2 years. We have passed the make-or-break stage of business owner. So I am happy and proud that we were able to presevere in these times.
2.          What do you love about the fashion industry?
The thing I love about the fashion industry is how it is forever evolving. It’s never the same but still you can see hints of past influences. As “NEW” as fashion is it always takes from the past to chew it and spit it out and make it new. The industry is such a hard knock place to be in caise it makes you really put pressure to be the best in fireld and makes you take chances that you might not think of taking. Like they say you are one runway show away from making or breaking it.

3.      Who is your Favorite Fashion icon?
My favorite Fashion Icon is maybe a behind the scenes person who makes the Fashion Icon and that’s Tom Ford and Karl Lagerfield. Those two people have changed the industry in such a huge way. They make the icons, they are the ones that make a women feels  sexy, secure, successful and beautiful. People may think that clothes can make you feel this way but they can if you feel like you look it you exude it and people pick up on that. It’s like how they say  if  two people went into a job interview and both were equally qualified that the  more “attractive “ person would get the job. We’ll it is true but not just that black and white it’s the person that is groomer well, were a nice pressed dress suit , hair done , nails done , a little makeup and etc..When you take time in your personal apperance prospective employers see that and see that if you take that much time to get ready for an interview you will also take “care” of your job that your will also take time and groom the position that you are applying for. Designers do not get the credit for being icons because they are behind the “Icon” but in fact they are the “Fashion Icon” makers.
Tom ford and Karl Lagerfeld are men that see a women and see beyond the 9-5 , see beyond the 2.5 kids and white picket fence. They see the women who wants to travel, who wants to feel sexy for either their boyfriend or husband. The women who likes working out and taking care of their figure. They see the free spirit in every women who wants  to be strong, sexual and incharge and they make women feel like that in the clothes that they design. And one day I hope to be able to create clothes like they do and make women and men feel like they do in their clothing brands in my personal brand.

4.          Fall is such a fun season for fashion...what is your favorite trend?
My favorite fashion trend right now for Fall 2011 is the long flowy maxi skirt paired with a warm turtle neck sweater. Love this trend because it can be easily worn with a leather jacket and scarve and calf length high heel boots  or  paired with a boyfriend boot and jean jacket. A few simple mixes for a everyday look. Plus it way comfy.

5.          Any words of wisdom for anyone who is trying to find their own personal style?
Personal style is something that takes ones whole life to develop. It’s all about how you want people to see you as. Always remember that a lot can be said about you by the way you dress before you even speak a word. That doesn’t mean that you have to follow the norm and be bland that means work with what you got and have fun but don’t be the butt of the joke. Work in an office setting you might have to wear office attire but maybe wear some killer heels have been collecting dust  that make you feel sexy instead of your everyday work shoes .Personal style is what the phrase says  IT’S YOUR PERSONAL STYLE and you don’t always have to follow the trends you can always set them. You never know your “style” might be the it thing of the season. Designers always see and get inspired by everyday people you might just a designers muse without knowing it.
